Grad School Prep Night

Wednesday, March 18
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Heber J. Grant Building Room 273

This event is a collaboration between BYU–Hawaii Career Services and the Asia-Pacific Communication Society, specifically tailored for students looking to transition from undergraduate studies to advanced degrees. Dr. Michael Morris will provide insider perspectives on how to build a competitive application, from crafting a compelling personal statement to securing strong letters of recommendation. The session aims to demystify the "hidden curriculum" of graduate admissions, helping you understand what committees are actually looking for in a candidate.

Beyond the application process, the evening will dive into the realities of life as a graduate student. Discussions will cover the shift in academic expectations, managing research workloads, and balancing personal life with rigorous study. Whether you are just beginning to consider a Master’s or Ph.D. or are already in the middle of your applications, the night concludes with a refreshment social, offering a chance to network with peers and ask Dr. Morris specific questions in a more casual setting.
