Our Mission

The mission of BYU–Hawaii's Career Services is to empower students in their personal, professional, and educational growth, aligning with BYU–Hawaii's mission to create lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ and leaders in their fields, all while fostering excellence, integrity, and service through comprehensive career programs and personalized support.

Our Vision

Our vision is to empower students to become inspirational leaders who positively impact their communities and the world. Through innovative career support, personalized guidance, and meaningful connections, we strive to help students discover their unique talents, pursue their passions, and build purposeful careers that align with their values and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Objectives

The BYU–Hawaii Career Services, part of the Ho’okele department, desires to provide comprehensive support and resources to students in their career development holokai.

Here is a list of outcomes that our BYU–Hawaii Career Services department strives to achieve:

Job Readiness Enhancement

  • Equip students with essential job readiness skills, including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, networking, and professional etiquette.
  • Conduct workshops and events for professional skill development in networking, personal branding, leadership, and career management.

Comprehensive Career Support

  • Guide students in career and graduate school exploration with personalized planning based on location, industry, interests, values, skills, and academic goals.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling, including assessments like MBTI and STRONG, to address challenges and clarify career paths.

Alumni Network Development

  • Cultivate a robust alumni network, encouraging engagement to support current and graduating students as mentors.
  • Continuously gather feedback from alumni and employers for service enhancement and ensuring satisfaction with graduates' preparedness.

Internship and Placement Facilitation

  • Connect students with employers for internships and cooperative education experiences, facilitating hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Support students in accessing job and internship opportunities, and integrating career development with academic advisors.

Diversity and Inclusion Focus

  • Foster an inclusive environment, recognizing and supporting diverse student needs.
  • Ensure equitable access to career resources, collaborating with internship coordinators and academic advisors to align academic pursuits with career goals.
