Scholarship Eligibility
Eligibility Requirements
- Students must have a strong interest in working in Oceania or the Asian Rim after graduation.
- Internships in the U.S. or Canada are not eligible for funding.
- Must have an approved internship application submitted through Handshake.
- The internship must be directly related to the student’s major.
- Students must be in good academic and university standing, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. This includes no honor code or financial holds.
- The internship must be worth at least 3 academic credits (or the equivalent of 135 hours) and require the student to reside in the internship country for a minimum of 3 weeks.
- International students must meet all International Student Services (ISS) requirements to participate.
- Students from all majors and academic programs are encouraged to apply.
- Internship locations outside Oceania and the Asian Rim may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Exceptions
Internships with the United Nations that are directly connected to opportunities in Oceania or the Asian Rim may be eligible.
Other Considerations
The following types of internships may also be reviewed for possible funding:
- Internships or employment with foreign embassies or consulates in the U.S.
- Opportunities with U.S.-based offices of international nonprofits working on global or regional issues
- Positions with foreign government offices in the U.S. where students may qualify to intern or work due to their citizenship
