About Career Connect
Career Connect is a series of career conferences and industry-focused events that connect BYU–Hawaii students with employers, professionals, and graduate programs from Asia, the Pacific, the Philippines, and beyond.
Each event has a specific regional or industry focus. Together, these events help students explore meaningful career opportunities, build professional relationships and prepare to live and lead in Asia and the Pacific.
Our Mission
BYU–Hawaii prepares students of Oceania and the Asian Rim to become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.
Career Connect supports this purpose by helping students connect classroom learning with professional experience. Through networking, career fairs, panels, interviews and conversations with industry professionals, students practice the skills they need to enter the workplace with confidence, integrity and purpose.
These experiences help students discover how their education, talents and faith can prepare them to contribute at home, in their communities and around the world.
Our Regional Purpose
BYU–Hawaii serves students from across Oceania, the Asian Rim, Hawaii and other parts of the world. Career Connect reflects this global community by creating opportunities connected to the places, industries and career goals most relevant to our students.
Some events focus on regions such as Asia, the Pacific or the Philippines. Others focus on specific industries and career fields. This approach gives students more opportunities throughout the year to connect with organizations that understand their interests, experiences and professional goals.
Career Connect also helps employers identify students who are prepared to learn, serve, contribute and lead in the workplace.
From APCC to Career Connect
Career Connect builds on and was formerly known as the Asia Pacific Career Conference. APCC began as an annual event connecting BYU–Hawaii students with employers and organizations from Asia and the Pacific.
As student and employer needs have expanded, the program has grown into multiple conferences and career events throughout the year. The new Career Connect name reflects this broader vision and allows each event to focus on a particular region, industry or professional field.
The history of APCC remains an important part of Career Connect. It established a foundation of meaningful relationships between BYU–Hawaii and organizations seeking to support the university’s students and graduates.
A Continuing BYU–Hawaii Vision
Career Connect is part of BYU–Hawaii’s continuing effort to prepare students for lives of learning, work, service and leadership.
At the dedication of BYU–Hawaii, President David O. McKay expressed a vision for the influence of students who would go forth from the university:
“From this school ... will go forth men and women whose influence will be felt for good towards the establishment of peace internationally.”
Career Connect contributes to this vision by helping students build the knowledge, skills and relationships they need to bless their families, strengthen their communities and make meaningful contributions in their chosen fields.
Connecting Students and Employers
Career Connect brings together students who are preparing for their professional futures and organizations seeking talented individuals who are ready to learn, contribute and lead.
Employers and professionals can share information about their organizations, meet potential candidates, provide industry insight and connect with students whose skills and experiences align with their needs.
Students can prepare through the Career-Ready Certification and participate in events that connect with their academic interests, career goals or home regions.
