Welcome employers! A variety of recruiting events—from large employer career fairs to more intimate consortia where interviewing may occur—give students and employers an opportunity to learn more about each other.
BYU Hawaii sponsors a variety of these recruiting events on and off campus, and we encourage you to consider them as an integral part of your recruiting effort with us.
"Hire Hawaii". Gain visibility and get to know our students by attending a Career Fair on the BYU Hawaii campus. And, in addition to our events, recruit at the other key Hawaii universities during the same week. BYU Hawaii hosts two fairs yearly, one in February and the other in October. These events are coordinated during a one week period with career fairs hosted by the other Hawaii universities. Career Services coordinates all on-campus recruiting at BYU Hawaii. We use a web-based interview scheduling and job posting system, Handshake. To get started, you must be registered as a Handshake employer. (Click here to begin registration.) To request on-campus interview dates, either call (808) 675-3533 or submit the online Contact Us request form. The staff will then confirm your date(s) via email or phone and provide further instructions. Refer to the other resources on our site for additional campus information.
Hosting an information session allows you to promote your organization and meet potential candidates prior to interviews. This has proven to be one of the most effective components of an employer's recruiting strategy at BYU Hawaii. The Career Center staff can assist you in scheduling dates and facilities and other services such as catering, media needs, advertisement in the campus newspaper and more. Career Services provides employers and students with private interview facilities and adequate conditions / equipment to function professionally. The facilities have internet connectivity and also have access to conference rooms and large group meetings rooms with an appropriate level of technology to support service delivery. Facilities are accessible to persons with disabilities and comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). Accommodations for students or employers with special needs are provided by Career Services or in conjunction with the department that serves this population. The Career Center is also equipped with video, web and tele-conferencing equipment for distance interviewing and meetings. In addition to the onsite equipment, Career Services also utilizes a web-based, vendor-hosted distance interviewing system, HireVue, to help facilitate long-distance screening and/or interviewing of job applicants.
To schedule interview dates, contact the Career Center, either by phone (808) 675-3533, email:firstname.lastname@example.org, or by submitting the CONTACT US online form. Once your date is confirmed, the employer may coordinate his/her own interview schedule on the YCareers system. You have the option of a "pre-select" or "open" schedule. What is Pre-select? On a preselect schedule, you get to view resumes in advance and choose which students to interview. On an open schedule, students sign up directly for an interview. You still have access to the resumes, but do not get to choose candidates. In both cases, however, the students must meet your specific interview requirements (ie, degree level, major, work authorization and graduation date).
